The films twist comes in as Charlize Theron announces she is of the same breed as Hancock. She says they were once called gods or angels(Nephilim) and now super heroes. Will and Theron are also the last 2 left of their kind and after being built in pairs(duality) they have a polar opposite attraction which brings them together(galactic alignment) and when they become to close too each other they start too become mortal.
Now flying off into the realm of the sync sphere, Theron also plays in 2 movies each with Will 2k and Mr. Neo Reeves and holds her own weight in movies such as Aeon Flux.

The happening which begins in NY(Oz) appears to be a natural chemical released by plants and trees which causes one to feel disoriented, slurred speech and eventually leads one to kill himself. It is described like the red tide(algae killing fish). I also feel free to interpret this as psychedelics & ego death.
Aquarius(water) symbol-
At the end of the film Walhberg(MM) & Zooey(OZ) become expecting parents, again producing double lines and birth of Aquarius.

I Love how the film starts out with the Bee Disappearance/Einstein Quote.. and then Mark-E-Mark immediately walks across a checkerboard floor.
